How to Enjoy the Holidays

I have set a goal this year to complete my holiday tasks by December 1st. Not because I’m some crazy super Mom that wants to get ahead of the curve, although, some could accuse me of that and they would in a lot of cases be correct. It’s because this year, I really, truly want to enjoy the holidays! I want to pick up on a Saturday morning and drive north to see snow and play with my kids outside followed by big mugs of hot cocoa. I want to read stories by the fire, play games and visit with family and friends. I don’t want to be shopping with crowds or planning what I need to do with the Elf on the Shelf every night.

For some folks, that might be part of the holiday craziness that they enjoy and I think that’s the key. Do the stuff you love and leave the rest behind. This year, instead of fretting over the cooking or decorating, maybe remove a few of those items from your list. Is your holiday card stressing you out? Send out an e-mail or video gram instead. Take all of the things you love about the holidays and DO THOSE. Forget about the rest if it doesn’t absolutely add to your joy during the season. Enjoy!
